STEP 1: Join Avon
It’s super easy to sign up & join Avon as an independent sales representative:

- Complete demographics & review terms & condition
- Choose your mentor and a sign up option:
- $0 sign up

Once you have completed the sign up process, Avon will send you a welcome email with your account number, mentor’s contact information & other info to help you get started. If you decide to join my team, The Super Sellers, you also will receive a welcome email & text message from me within 24 business hours. At that time, you will be invited to join our team Facebook group & begin receiving training emails in your first 8 campaigns. STEP 2: Set Up Your Avon Account & Online Store
After joining Avon, the first step is to create an account through Avon’s website or through the AvonGo app on your mobile device. The Avon website/Avon Go app is where you will be able to personalize your online store & have access to a variety of tools like customer management tools, marketing tools & online training through Avon U. This is going to be your best friend as you start & manage your business.

STEP 3: Start Avon U Training
One of the amazing benefits you can enjoy as a representative is that you have access to all kinds of training. The first place to check out is Avon U. There you will find FREE training, product guides, tutorials & tools to help you start, manage & grow your Avon business. There are a variety of training modules & topics that go over everything you will need to know as well as information & tools to help you learn more about the amazing Avon products.
Knowledge is power. It’s important to continually work on learning & growing your expertise as this will help you feel confident when a customer has a question or needs help with something. This will also set you apart because customers will see that they can rely & trust you which will result in them wanting to continue to shop with you as well as recommend you to others that they know.
Another area you can find training and resources is through Avon’s Learning & Development team’s webinar. You can find upcoming training webinars through their Facebook group at Avon Representative Social Selling or the calendar link found under the “Manage Business” drop down at avon.com or AvonGo app.
STEP 4: Plan What Your Business Will Look Like
Now it’s time to get ready to let the world know you are open for business. First off, you have to decide what you want your business to look like, starting off with how you want your customers to shop with you. As an Avon representative, you have 3 options:
- Direct Delivery (Online) Only: Customers shop your online store anywhere in the U.S..
- Avon collects payment
- Avon ships orders (representatives will be responsible to help pay for shipping orders over $60+)
- Representative Delivery Only: Customers contact representative with their order
- Representative submits & pays for order on their desired order date within a campaign
- Representative is responsible to collect payment from customer
- Representative delivers or has customer pick up their order
- Direct AND Representative Delivery: Customers can shop online and/or contact representative with their order
I personally believe, especially as you are starting out, that offering online AND representative delivery is the best way to go as this will provide a wider range of potential customers. Not all customers want to shop online. At the same time, there are customers who only want to shop online, even if you live next door from them. However, it is up to you on what you want to do and do note, you can alter or change this as you go at any time…. Just make sure to notify your customers of any changes.
Once you know what you want your business to look like in regard to how your customers can shop, next is to determine what benefits you want to offer your customers. What do I mean by benefits? Well, think about when you go shopping at any business… what do they offer that you like? A free gift or sample with their order? Exclusive coupons? Birthday deals? Loyalty programs? What do the businesses you shop at offer their customers as a “bonus”.
Now I’m not sitting here & telling you that you need to do all of them… that’s ridiculous. Pick one or two that will match your business goals & what you want your business to look like. From my experience, customers love discounts & they love FREE. So, if you choose something that goes with either of those, you can’t go wrong. For example, I offer new customers a discount or coupon code with their first order at a qualifying amount. Another thing I offer, which actually helped me grow my customer base when I first started, is a Refer a Friend program. When a customer refers a new customer who places a qualifying order, they both would receive a discount. Since I offer a new customer discount all ready, pretty much all I need to do is give the referring customer the matching discount.

Lastly, one of the many benefits customers can enjoy when shopping with Avon is the variety of products that are available. However, as an independent sales representative, this can feel very overwhelming, especially if you are newer to Avon or have not seen an Avon brochure in years. Well, I’m here to tell you that you DO NOT need to try & sell everything. I’m actually going to tell you that you should focus on the few categories that you enjoy. Do you have a passion for makeup? Are you in love with Avon’s skincare products? Do you enjoy fashion trends & jewelry? Are you obsessed with fragrances or clean beauty? I know there is something that you do enjoy or you wouldn’t have joined Avon to become a representative. Whatever the answer, that is what you should focus on & become an expert in. For me, it’s makeup & skincare. My customers & followers know they can ask me questions and know they can trust what I say & recommend.
STEP 5: Grand Opening
So, you have an idea on what you want your business to look like… now it’s time to prepare to let the world know. That is where having a grand opening comes in. Think about a new business opening in your local area… they most likely hosted a grand opening, right?
Well, why wouldn’t you?
You are starting a new business as an independent sales representative.
Grand openings are a great opportunity to let others know not only that you are open for business but also provides a space for them to get to know you & your business. Let them see what you are about & what you want to accomplish with your business. Believe it or not, but customers actually want to feel connected to those they shop with.
Now you don’t need to make it this elaborate event like you would see a brick & mortar business do. You technically don’t have a store front like they do… you have your online store & the brochure. However, that’s all you really need with how great techonology is these days. You can easily do a grand opening event without getting off the couch. You can do a live where you introduce yourself, share what you love about Avon and let them know how they can shop with you. You can even offer an exclusive grand opening offer or giveaway that customers can enjoy by attending your event, whether it’s online or in person. Remember customers love free & discounts!

Determining on who to invite to your grand opening is where creating a contact list will come in handy. Think of the people you know & interact with on a regular basis. One of the first things I hear from new representatives is that they don’t know anyone… I highly doubt that. Avon is a well known brand & even if the people closest to you may not be interested, I’m sure they know someone who is (this is where Refer a Friend comes in handy).
Lastly, you don’t need to do an elaborate marketing of your grand opening as well. You can create professional marketing materials right on Canva such as images that you can share on your social media pages, texts & email lists or flyers you can print and post around your local community. Let them know when, where & what they can expect (activities? sampling? exclusive offers?). Encourage bringing a guest with a FREE gift at door like a sampler or a special giveaway for a FREE product. Remember, in the beginning, your focus is about providing and taking advantage of opportunities to share your business in order to grow your customer base. You want to become THE representative people think of when they hear Avon.
