Avon Starter Collection Tips
Below are some tips to help you utilize your starter collection to help you start & grow your new Avon business. These are tips that I have personally used or have worked for other representatives. I recommend choosing tips & ideas, whether they are mine or others that you come across, should be ones that best meet your “business personality” and what you envision your business to be like.
Choosing the Right Starter Collection
When choosing your starter collection, it is best to choose a collection that best meets what you love about Avon.

Do you love their skincare?
Do you enjoy enjoying a variety of beauty products?
Are you a makeup addict & just love playing with makeup?
You are going to be the best marketing tool you have. If you love & enjoy the products, your customers will too. So choose a collection that interests you the most.
Think about it… when a friend tells you about this amazing movie she just saw or a family member tells you about this amazing restaurant they ate at this past weekend. They have this infectious energy & glow that actually makes you want to check it out too… right?
Well that’s exactly what is going to happen when others see you talk about your favorite Avon products.
BONUS TIP: Avon offers a wide variety of products which is great because it allows us to reach a variety of customers. However, when it comes to marketing, it can be very overwhelming. Focus on what you love about Avon and become an expert in that category. You love their makeup or skincare? Learn what you can about makeup trends and what skincare routine is best for each skin type. You enjoy their fashion & jewelry? Know what’s trending in the fashion industry. You get what I mean, right?
Using Your Starter Collection
With choosing to purchase a starter collection along with all the online tools you have available through AvonNow, you are more than ready to start your Avon business. With whatever collection you choose, you will receive products, brochures & a What’s New. So how can you utilize these to start your Avon business? Let’s go over products first….
Starter Collection Products
- Use Some or All of the Products Yourself: If you have never used Avon products before or are not very familiar with them, using the products yourself is one way to do so. When customers ask you will be able to let them know what you thought about the product & why. Even if you have used Avon products before, if there are any products you want to keep… do so. You can use them & market them on your social media with things like how to videos, a product review or a simple picture of you rocking it.
- Sell Some or All of Your Full Size Products: If you are looking for a way to earn money on the spot, selling the full size products you receive in your collection is the way to go. You can put the products in a small basket & bring it everywhere with you, display it in your workplace’s lunchroom (as long as it isn’t against the office rules) or bundle a couple of the products together to create a gift basket you can sell.

- Raffle Off a Full Size Product or Product Bundle: A raffle is a great way to attract attention to your new business. Let’s face it… we ALL love FREE stuff. You can raffle a full size product or create a bundle to collect contact info or for customers who place a qualifying order. If you have a launch party, you can have a door prize raffle for those who come or if it’s online, for those who RSVP. Whatever you decide, it is going to bring attention to your business which means it’s going to bring customers & sales to your business.
Starter Collection Brochures
The Avon brochure is by far one of the most important tools you have at your disposal for your business. This is like the sales flyer or brochure that your local stores put in the newspaper or mail out to you. Each collection comes with 5 brochures and 5 The Edit sales flyers. Here are some ideas that you can do with these brochures:
- Pass Them Out to Those You Know: Hand them out to those you know who love Avon or who would be interested in what Avon has to offer. Avon is a well known brand and we grew up with at least one or two family members who enjoyed Avon. Do you have a friend that loves beauty products? Is there a co-worker that enjoys trendy jewelry?
- Ask Family & Friends for Referrals: This is a great way to start growing your customer base as you start off. Honestly, this is how I got the majority of my first customers by asking family members & friends to share their brochure to those they know who would be interested. To say thank you for doing so, I offered them a discount on their next order. To take it one step further, you can do a “Refer a Friend” promotion where you offer a 10% off discount to both the referring and the referral… They would have to place an order in same campaign to qualify. So that means you’ll receive double the sales!
- Create “Sneak Peak“ Brochures: What do I mean by this? Well you would take 1 brochure and you would take a few pages to create “mini” brochures or “sneak peaks”…. whatever you’d like to call them. These will be great to hand out to those you may not know very well, new customers you come across in your day to day life or even just a way to announce that you are open for business. You can attach a flyer or let them know if they’d like a full brochure they can go to your online store or request one from you.
Starter Collection What’s New
So what exactly is a ” What’s New “… well this is where all representatives can enjoy sneak peaks at what’s to come in upcoming campaigns including new products, sales & special offers. Each campaign you place an AvonNow order, you will automatically receive a new Avon What’s New which will be for 2 campaigns ahead. You also will have access to them through AvonNow.

So how can you utilize this tool? Well just like how all of us representatives utilize the What’s New.
- Take Advantage of Sample Special Offers: Many times when Avon is launching a new product, they will offer a special sale or offer representatives can take advantage of through the What’s New to help them promote new products. Also, at the end of each What’s New, there is a list of samples that are currently available. So you can see what products you can provide samples to your customers so they can try out new products. This is a great way to introduce customers to new & popular products, even those they may not otherwise have tried.
- Purchase a *NEW* Product: Be the first to try out & get to know new products that will be coming out before they are launched in a brochure. Each representative is allowed to purchase 2 *NEW* products through the What’s New based on their sales level. This will have you ready to go to market & share the product when it launches in the brochure.
- Take Advantage of Representative Exclusive Bundles: Every so often, Avon will offer an exclusive offer representatives can take advantage of to stock up on popular or *NEW* collection products and receive some goodies as well. For example, right now Avon is offering Skin So Soft Bug Guard bundles where representatives can save money & receive extra goodies when they purchase a Bug Guard bundle.
Now, when it comes to these tips, do not feel that you HAVE to do any of these. I know first hand when you are just starting out it can feel overwhelming trying to do everything other representatives are doing. I know that’s how I felt in the first year of my business and I learned the hard way that that is just not possible. We all have been where you are and we built our way up. You will too! That is why I always advise to take ideas & tips, do what feels best meets your business. You can always try ideas & tips later on down the road. Keep a list if you have to of things you’d like to try out. That’s what I did until I figured out what best works for me & my business. You can do this! Believe in yourself, believe in your business, be consistent. As long as you do those three things, you got this.
