The last few months have been very difficult for myself and my family. I will have to admit, I had periods that I didn’t know how I was going to get through it with my sanity in tact. Continually dealing with health problems and then having my freedom taken away due to not 1, but 2 of our family cars kicking the bucket, it got really hard not only myself but my family as well. For some of us this period brought us closer together while others became more distant.
We had decided to keep our Thanksgiving low key with it just being us. I decided to do a pajama Thanksgiving celebration. Of course my boys were all over that idea… they were going to be able to stuff their faces all day and not have to dress up for it. I woke up Thanksgiving morning praying I had enough energy to do the cooking I needed to do and get through dinner. With everything that had been going on, my insomnia had kicked into overdrive the last few weeks and of course I got only like two hours of sleep that night. So I was not expecting to have the Thanksgiving I did… One of the best!
My family came together to help cook & prepare for the dinner and then when we sat down for dinner, all we did was laugh and joke around. It was music to my ears because it feels like it’s been a long time since we ALL came together and actually had fun and enjoyed one another’s company. There were no sibling arguments over turkey parts or someone having the last piece of chocolate cream pie (as you can see an my pic, we made plenty!). My husband and I were in sync & worked together which lately seemed non existent. Even our stubborn two year old didn’t have any temper tantrums that day. To my surprise, for the first year ever, my kids took it upon themselves to do the clean up. Awww the benefits of your kids growing up. Kids, if you are reading this… you are more then welcome to do this on a daily basis. After the clean up was done & I actually got to relax after having the perfect Thanksgiving day, my husband & I with our three youngest, snuggled up in the living room and watched a new Christmas movie that had us laughing the whole time.

I don’t know about you, but I strongly believe that God sends us messages, especially when we need them the most. I know when I woke up Thanksgiving morning, I felt like I was on the edge of a mental breakdown with everything I had on my shoulders. No matter what is going on all around us, we are a family full of love & laughter that will support one another.
To me, that is all I’ve ever wanted being a mom/step mom of a blended family. Up until a few days ago, little did I know, I had it all along.
