TPSY Drunk Shiny Lip Oil Review

Over the last year, many makeup brands have been launching their own lip oils. It has become a popular lip product to wear, especially during spring & summer for your everyday looks. Lip oils have become the perfect alternative to lip glosses that are designed to help keep your lips hydrated as well as provide shine. According to celebrity makeup artist Bryan Cantor (Kaplan & Rud, 2023), “A lip oil can be used on its own, layered under lipstick for extra hydration, or over lipstick for extra shine”. As a result, lip oils have become a staple product in plenty makeup bags.

TPSY Makeup

In late 2018, Avon became apart of the LG Household & Health Care family. As a result, Avon has updated their product line to include curated collection of well know K-Beauty brands such as belif, The Face Shop, VDL and more. TPSY founders Loanna and Jason met one fateful night and married two weeks later. It was love at first sight—spontaneous and intoxicating—and together they’ve created products to capture that same beautiful excitement for you! Though young, TPSY has become well known for it’s innovative formulas and practical packaging. (Chan, 2018). You can now shop curated collection with Avon:

Alternatives

As stated above, since Avon became apart of the LG family, they have worked on including well known brands into their product line. Last fall, Avon began offering a currated collection of The Creme Shop makeup & skincare products at prices & bundles that won’t be available anywhere else. The Creme Shop Luscious Lip Oil in Watermelon Ice is a great alternative to TPSY Drunk Shiny Lip Oil. This too includes hydrating coconut oil and watermelon to give you nourished, glossy lips. Plus, The Creme Shop is a cruelty free, paraben free & sulfate free brand. Another great alternative, though it is more of a lip gloss. The Glimmer Lip Glaze is designed to moisturize your lips with hydrating castor seed oil & antioxidant Vitamin E ingredients. AND, it is designed to give you that luscious glossy finish without the stickiness. Now, if your focus is more about keeping your lips hydrated, then you can find many customer fave lip balms still available in a variety of flavors.

With more and more people going to lip oils over lip gloss, many top beauty editors have been doing their research & on the hunt of finding the best of the best, like Alyssa Kaplan & Melanie Rud from Byrdie (2023). After consulting with celebrity makeup artists and hours of research & evaluating of their shades, formulas, and what types of hydrating ingredients each pick contains, these are their top 13 picks:

Goes on wet and within minutes gives your lips a nice healthy flush of color with a nice shine. My daughter loved it so much she has taken it and I’m ordering another for myself.

My Final Thoughts

I originally picked up the TPSY Drunk Shiny Lip Oil back in the fall. Personally, at that time, I preferred lip gloss. Honestly, my previous experience with lip oils was not one I felt they were worth the money. I have a couple in my makeup collection that I use when I want more hydration rather than shine. But what bugged me the most about them was that the pigment was very light & it would go away within an hour or so.

So what made me decide to try this out? I was influenced by my fellow Avon reps & other beauty influencers who were raving about this on TikTok. The way they talked about it AND how it looked on them, I HAD TO TRY IT and boy, am I happy I did. Since I grabbed this, I have not stopped using this, especially the last couple months now that it is spring. It literally has become a staple in my everyday makeup routine.

I personally have the shade “My Boo”. It is probably the most pigmented lip oil I’ve come across and what shocked me was how long the pigment lasted on my lips. By the end of the day, it looks more like a lip stain, however it’s not drying at all. I personally hate lip stains because of how drying they are. You won’t get that with this. Your lips will feel hydrated all day.

What makes this such a staple in my makeup collection is how versatile it is. It’s lightweight so you can wear this alone as well as on top of a lipstick or other lip color products. What I love the most is the range of intensity you can apply the shade. When I want a slight tint, I will just add a dap to the center of my bottom lip and pucker my lips together. For a more intense shade, I will apply it as normal and you will get a gorgeous glossy red orange lip color. It’s not an intense red where it will wash you out if you are a fellow paley like myself. Because it has sheeriness to it, no matter what your skin tone is, you can rock this all spring & summer. So, if you have not gotten it yet, but I highly recommend this product, especially with summer coming up around the corner.
