Glimmer Powder Blush Product Review

Over the last few years blush has become very popular in the makeup community, each season with a new trend on how you can rock blush. What I’ve come to see from my experience is that people either love blush & can’t get enough of it or they hate it & never use it.

Glimmer Collection

Since Avon joined the LG family back in October 2019, there has been a major update on the overall product line, especially with makeup & skincare. In the Glimmer collection, you will find many old favorites like Glimmersticks, Lip Conditioner, Supershock Volumizing Mascara & more now in new packaging & updated formulas.

Alternatives

One of Avon’s customer favorite blushes was the Avon True Color Luminous Blush. Though this product has been discontinued & replaced with the Glimmer Powder Blush, you can still shop select shades online. The shades Warm Flush & Russet are similar to Glimmer Powder Blush shades Pink Passion & Cranberry Crush. For Petal Pink shade, an alternative is the Colors of Love Blushing Beads Powder Blush.

With blush becoming popular the last few years, many brands have been launching new blush products. On top of what was all ready out in the market, it can be hard to decide which blush is worth your hard earned money. My Final Thoughts

For most of my life, I honestly was not a big blush wearer. Being someone who is more on the pale end of the spectrum, I always saw blush as something that would wash me out or a shade could go overboard really quick. Over the past year, I will admit I’ve jumped on the band wagon and started loving to use blush, even in my everyday makeup looks.

One thing I have learned since adding blush to my makeup routine is that not all blushes are made alike. I will admit, many makeup products you can get away with drugstore, affordable options rather than name brand, expensive options. Don’t get me wrong, I have found a couple of drugstore blushes that are great, but for the most part, I’ve noticed that shades are not very pigmented. I get it… most people don’t want to have a blob of color on their cheeks. That is where I’ve come to enjoy blushes that are the perfect amount of pigment where you can get a flush of color if you go in lightly as well as getting pops of color if you build it up. That is exactly what I’ve come to love about Avon’s Glimmer Powder Blush.

I currently have two shades, Cranberry Crush and Petal Pink. I first ordered Petal Pink because at that time, Dior’s infamous pink blush was trending overywhere. Not being one to spend that much money on a blush and seeing Avon offered a similar shade, I decided to go with the more affordable option. I instantly fell in love it and thought it went perfect with my skin tone. After testing it out for a few days, I noticed how I was able to utilize this blush from an everyday makeup look all the way up to a full glam look. Because of this I decided to go & order the Cranberry Blush shade as I did not have that shade in my makeup collection in a powder blush. This is why I wish there were more shades available because I would definitely fill up the shades I don’t have with this blush. For instance, a peach shade would be perfect right now for spring & summer.

It glides on smoothly on the skin and blends smoothly with other makeup. When applying the blush at first, it applies very light, more like a flush look. This is especially true when using a fluffy blush brush. For a more pigmented look or to build it up, I use a more compacted blush brush or a sponge. What I really enjoy is that even if you are looking to build up the shade, you are able to without getting overboard. I know for me that’s a huge deal because it can get bad real fast. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to someone who is looking for a blush to add to their makeup collection.
