Alternatives

When I first saw that Avon was launching fmg Match Filter Serum Tint Foundation I immediately thought of KVD’s viral Good Apple Foundation. Last spring, this foundation blew up with it’s creamy formula & high coverage. I actually did purchase this foundation & try it out. Being someone with combination skin I noticed that it enhanced the dry areas. I actually ended up returning it because even with try different primers, it just did not work. I will say the coverage is absolutely amazing! This is definitely one of the best coverage from a cream foundation

My Final Thoughts

Typically I prefer my foundation to provide coverage & give me a flawless base to work off of. However, over the past 6 months or so, I have been transitioning my makeup routine to be more natural, especially when it comes to my foundation. I love using products that are going to even out my skin tone & have some coverage. It’s a bonus if it has skincare benefits as these are products that I am typically wearing every day.

Last spring, as I mentioned before, I tested out KVD Good Apple Foundation and I was really disappointed that I was not able to make it work for my skin. So when I saw that Avon was going to launch the fmg Match Filter Serum Tint Foundation, I was excited. First off, seeing that it was a serum foundation, I immediately thought of NYX Serum Concealer and how much I love this product because it actually made my under eye area look even better. Then on top of that, according to the description it was designed for all skin types & had the hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid.

I tested the fmg Match Filter Serum Tint Foundation for about a week with different prep routines & applications to really see how this product works. I will say overall this did meet my needs & expectations for an everyday foundation. For me, I want something that is going to even out my skin tone, not enhance my pores or settle into my fine lines & wrinkles. I noticed I was able to accomplish this whether or not I used a primer. This is great because lately I don’t use a primer every day, so having a product I know that works the same with or with out a primer makes it easier & faster to do my makeup.

When it comes to applying the product, I will say the best bet is to use a dampen sponge. I found that the product applied a lot more smoothly & I felt like I was able to use less. I also used a foundation brush & the sponge applicator that it came with which worked as well, however, I felt the sponge was the best option. I noticed that when blending with a sponge, the product soaked into the skin more flawlessly.

One of the biggest complaints I do have is that it isn’t long wearing and when wearing a mask, it may rub off onto the mask. I noticed that around my nose & mouth area by the end of the day product had worn off or disappeared. It doesn’t claim to be longwearing but if you are looking to use this everyday, just note you may have to do touch ups if it will be a long day. The compact though is easy to travel with having a sponge applicator & mirror.

If you are someone that is looking for an every day foundation that has a weightless formula & do not need coverage or are comfortable in using concealer for coverage, I highly recommend this. This has been what I use in my everyday makeup routine and just love how my combination skin looks all over. It just gives your skin this flawless look with a beautiful natural glow. It has hydrating & antioxidant ingredients so it’s also going to help your skin’s health for the long haul.
