fmg Match Airbrush Tinted Primer Review
Primers have become a staple in many makeup bags since they first appeared on our tv screens in 2002. When used correctly, primers can up your makeup game & help with longevity, especially those that include skincare ingredients. “Not only does makeup primer create a silky-smooth, poreless canvas for your makeup to adhere to, but it also helps your face and eye makeup stay on all day without slipping, fading, or creasing. Basically, primer is your bestie” (Chloe Metzger, 2020)

Alternatives
If you were like me when you first saw the Airbrush Retouch Tinted Primer, your thoughts most likely went to the popular Elf’s Halo Glow Liquid Filter. According to Elf Cosmetics website, the Halo Glow Liquid Filter is “a multi-purpose, liquid glow booster that gives your complexion a soft-focus social filter effect IRL.” Just like the Airbrush Retouch Tinted Primer, you can use Halo Glow Liquid Filter in 4 ways… wear alone, tinted primer, mix with foundation or highlight on top of your foundation.
For a more high end, name brand version, Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter is the trailblazing, award winning tinted primer that can be used in a multitude of ways. Charlotte Tilbury is a world renown makeup artist who is known to create makeup products inspired by Hollywood and it’s use of light to capture, diffuse & blur.
My Pros
- Affordable
- Lightweight
- Has my skin looking flawless all day
- Has skincare ingredients especially those that help maintain my skin’s hydration (such as strengthening skin’s barrier)
- Multiple ways of using it
My Cons
- Has a doe foot applicator (I HATE them)
- Can feel drying on skin so you have to make sure to moisturize if you have dry skin
- Not a lot of glow for highlighter (I like my highlighter to be blinding)
- Only comes in 4 shades (needs at least 1 more deeper shade)
Consumer Reviews
One of the many benefits of shopping Avon online is that you are able to check out what other customers have to say about a product. Here are what some customers said about Airbrush Retouch Tinted Primer:
Great at boosting radiance!
Stephanie from Undisclosed
Very drying. Product is for someone with oily skin.
Barbara from Undisclosed
This primer gives a nice healthy glow to the skin. I purchased a shade too light but mix a couple of drops of bronzer in it and it’s perfect.
Laura from Undisclosed
Omg! I love this so much! I have been actively seeking a replacement for my favorite ulta serum foundation. This is WAY BETTER! But it took me a while to adjust to the applicator. I was to be able to get it in my fingers and blend it into my face. I feel like the wand makes me use way more than needed, and then another step of a blender sponge. But this stuff is magic! Light, spreadable, decent coverage and translucent color. I glisten! Age…almost 50 wihj combination skin.

My Final Thoughts
As stated above, as soon as I saw this product, I knew I had to grab it. I originally went into testing out this product as a way to compare and contrast as I’ve used both Elf’s Halo Glow Liquid Filter and Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter. For me, both of these were very glowy so I would only use them if I did the underpainting method and once in awhile as a highlighter. I was expecting basically the same thing when I went to use Airbrush Retouch Tinted Primer for the first time.
When I first opened it, I was disappointed that it had the doe foot applicator. I understand the reasoning behind it, but I personally do not like it. My mood quickly changed, however, once I started applying it and seeing how it looked. Unlike the Elf & Charlotte Tilbury version, this one had a natural glow from within that was not overpowering. It really gave my skin an airbrush, natural glow look.
What really sold me was when I looked in the mirror hours later and saw how good my skin still looked. I work in an office and I don’t have time to fix my makeup so I love using products that look good all day without me having to do any touch ups.

Since the first day I tried this product many months ago, I’ve since used this product in all 4 ways. I have loved all but one method, using it as a highlighter. One of the reasons why I love this product (not too glowy) is the reason why I don’t care to use it as a highlighter (remember, I like to blind with my highlighter). I am ok with that because I have tons of other products that I can use for that.
Now if you are someone who has dry skin, this formula may feel drying on your skin. As I am now over 40, my combination skin has become drier. I personaly have not had issues in applying this product, even on the days when my skin feels extra dry. My opinion is that I’m not having issues because I moisturize my skin at least 10-15 minutes prior to applying the Airbrush Retouch Tinted Primer. I have used it without moisturizing and I noticed I needed to use more product. It looked fine & lasted however, I think it looked it’s best when I moisturized prior to applying.
Now would I recommend this product? Absolutely, especially to those who like I was, looking for an alternative to Elf’s Halo Glow or Charlotte Tilbury’s Filter Flawless that gave me the glow from within in a more natural way. This has became a staple in my makeup routine and I often get compliments on how great my skin looks. It gives my skin the little boost it needs to look it’s best all day long.
