What’s Trending in Spring/Summer 2018

The Spring/Summer 2018 Fashion Week was all about bright colors & bold prints. “From primary shades through to neon accents, when designers committed to spring’s bold hues, they knew they had to go hard or go home. Expect to see vibrant pinks, reds, yellows and more…” (Almassi, 2017) What about the bold prints? Of course, florals were seen all over the runway. However, the difference is “this season’s florals were bigger & bolder than ever- offered in a variety of colors & retro inspired prints to breath fresh air into your wardrobe.” (Fisher/Fritton, 2017) Other prints you saw pop up on the Spring 2018 Fashion Week were “art infused prints [including] comic inspired faces to Andy Warhol classics and graphic designs.” (Fisher/Fritton 2017)

If you were loving the 80’s inspired looks from the fall, you will be happy to know that it carried on into the spring. One that might bring back memories is the famous fanny pack- now called “bum bag” or “belt bag”. “No matter your aesthetic, there’s a hip-slung bag for you….” (Carreon, 2017) You will notice a difference, though this time around, with the 80’s inspired pieces not only being casual but also fancy evening wear for those who love to dress up. I know one trend I am loving this spring is the denim look. Yes! Denim is back and was found all over the runways. “From jackets to jeans, skirts & suiting separates, dark wash denim reigned supreme every form.” (Fisher/Fritton, 2017)

If you are a little weary about shifting your wardrobe to these bright, bold colors & prints, you can take advantage of the small transitional details found all over Spring/Summer 2018 Fashion Week. Trends like square necklines, puffy shoulders, and details with fringe & crystal will have your Spring/Summer 2018 look updated without a dramatic transition as described above.
